Tenth Annual A Night To Remember, A Time To Act

EVERETT, August 20 – This year marks the 10th anniversary of Snohomish County’s International Overdose Awareness Day Candlelight Vigil & Resource Fair — "A Night To Remember, A Time To Act."
All are invited to participate in the annual remembrance and awareness event.
This year’s event will be held on Thursday, August 27, at the Snohomish County Plaza at 3000 Rockefeller in Everett. The event will begin with a resource fair at 5 p.m. highlighting local organizations that offer support, services and information for individuals and families affected by addiction.
The program will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a candlelight vigil and reception at 7 p.m. This year’s program will highlight the 10-year journey of “A Night To Remember, A Time To Act.”
The vigil and resource fair were started a decade ago by two moms who lost their sons to overdose. Cathi Lee and Debbie Warfield wanted to bring together the information and resources they wish had been available to them when their families were struggling, and to create space to remember and honor loved ones lost too soon. In memory of their sons, Corey Lee and Spencer Warfield, they help others find support. The event is coordinated in partnership with local nonprofit Hope Soldiers and Snohomish County.
“You don’t ever get over losing a child—you just learn how to carry that loss with you and find a way to keep going,” Warfield said. “Ten years ago, ‘A Night To Remember, A Time To Act’ was born out of that heartbreak. What started as a way for us to remember our son and the many others we had lost has grown into something that brings our community together.”
“Ten years ago, we had no idea that sharing our story and hosting our first ‘A Night To Remember, A Time To Act’ candlelight vigil and resource fair would ignite compassion, support and conversations that would change lives forever,” Lee said.
