Easter 2026: Survey Finds NYC the Costliest Car Rental Destination in the World
NEW YORK CITY, NY, UNITED STATES, April 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- New York City ranks as the most expensive destination globally for car hire over Easter, according to a new survey from Cheapcarrental.com. The study analysed rental rates at 300 airports around the world for the travel period of April 2 to April 7, 2026.
At an average of $124 per day for the lowest-priced available vehicle, JFK Airport took the top spot as the most expensive location overall. That figure is 48% higher than the usual springtime rate.
Coming in second is Bogotá, Colombia’s capital, where the average daily rate reaches $122. Easter is the busiest travel week of the year in Colombia, helping to drive rental prices at Bogotá Airport up by 167% compared with normal rates.
The Italian island of Sicily also sees especially high demand during Easter Week, when a number of well-known religious processions take place. Unsurprisingly, vehicle rental costs rise sharply at this time. At $117 per day on average for the cheapest available car, Catania Airport on Sicily’s east coast ranks as the third most expensive destination in the world for Easter car rentals.
Completing the top 10 are Nice, France, and Burbank, California, with average daily prices of $116 and $112 respectively. Other destinations in the top tier include Cairns in Australia, San Francisco, Palm Beach, Charleston and Marseille, all of which average $100 or more per day for the least expensive rental car during the Easter period.
