Czech President Backs Ukraine Peacekeeping Mission
Prague’s engagement in an upcoming peacekeeping effort would be “appropriate” considering the country’s active participation in the peace negotiations, President Petr Pavel remarked during an interview with a news agency, as conveyed by a news outlet.
He mentioned that the extent of their involvement will be defined by the terms of any agreement reached.
Additionally, the Czech president noted that territorial concessions in Ukraine are probably necessary to secure a resolution, even if such concessions breach international law.
These compromises represent the battlefield realities, and to prevent the conflict from prolonging for years with mounting losses and devastation, Pavel considers that a temporary territorial setback is the lesser of two evils.
