Trump Threatens to Fire Fed Governor Lisa Cook
“What she did was bad,” Trump remarked to journalists during an unscheduled visit to The People’s House museum in Washington. “So I’ll fire her if she doesn’t resign.”
Earlier in the week, Federal Housing Finance Agency head Bill Pulte alleged that Cook falsely declared two separate properties as her main residence.
He mentioned submitting a criminal complaint to the Justice Department, which, according to confirmed reports on Thursday, has initiated an inquiry.
Cook, who was selected by previous President Joe Biden, has refuted the allegations, asserting she has “no intention of being bullied to step down” and is currently examining documentation to address the concerns.
Cook has routinely aligned her votes with Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell in favor of maintaining existing interest rates.
